{"id":133,"date":"2016-12-05T22:54:09","date_gmt":"2016-12-06T04:54:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/oneswiftpint.org\/brew\/?page_id=133"},"modified":"2017-02-26T00:08:25","modified_gmt":"2017-02-26T06:08:25","slug":"hops-lamb","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/oneswiftpint.org\/brew\/the-journey\/brewing-recipes\/hops-lamb\/","title":{"rendered":"Hops Lamb"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Hop Slam Brewing Notes<\/p>\n<p>12\/3\/2016<\/p>\n<p>Started at 1pm<\/p>\n<p>Pre-heating tuns at 1:20pm w\/ 4 gallons of water near boiling in each<\/p>\n<p>boiling more to heat the tuns<\/p>\n<p>got water in Tun to approx 167F<\/p>\n<p>(filled to approx 5 gal mark on interior)<\/p>\n<p>1:45pm<\/p>\n<p>Added grain (16 lbs) and stirred.<\/p>\n<p>put fresh water on for boil<\/p>\n<p>by 1:50 temp near top was ~ 154<\/p>\n<p>filled brewing bucket w\/ water and 2 capfuls of iodophor<\/p>\n<p>1:58<\/p>\n<p>filled carboy with water and PBW<\/p>\n<p>Concern: mashtun is pretty full ~7 gal mark on<\/p>\n<p>2:10<\/p>\n<p>started prepping dry yeast \u2014 boiled water via microwave in pyrex measuring cup<\/p>\n<p>2:25<\/p>\n<p>rinsed carboy and refilled with warm water plus amberdyne<\/p>\n<p>Checked mash temp after a stir \u2014 still 152.<\/p>\n<p>Started water boiling again.<\/p>\n<p>at about 3:55 set up fly sparge but then scrapped it and poured ~3lb boiling water into kettle and started draining into boil kettle.\u00a0 water temp \u201calmost\u201d got to 170<\/p>\n<p>Mash out seemed decent<\/p>\n<p>Did no sparging at all.\u00a0 Should have rinsed a little, probably &#8212; lost a fair amount during the boil &#8212; could have rinsed 2 gallons of water thru maybe.\u00a0 Next time!<\/p>\n<p>boil started at 4pm<\/p>\n<p>pitched 1 oz centennial<\/p>\n<p>4:10pm started hydrating yeast<\/p>\n<p>Washed Therminator for the first time (really).<\/p>\n<p>SOaked in PBW for 40 mins<\/p>\n<p>Then rinsed and soaked in Amberdyne for 30 mins.<\/p>\n<p>Rinsed before using.<\/p>\n<p>At 440 added glacier and vanguard<\/p>\n<p>At around 450 Added an extra gallon of water since boil was running a bit low.<\/p>\n<p>boiled 1 tsp of sugar with a cup of water<\/p>\n<p>30 mins or so later the yeast seemed reasonably frothy.
